(Not so) subtle sex reference..?

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but here goes anyway:

I rewatched this flick last night and for the first time caught a pretty obvious visual penis/erection-reference - if that's what it was supposed to be. When Brando is being told to "satisfy his lust elsewhere" by Howard, we see him walking off towards the cutter and the camera pans to the dead breadfruit-plant - which incidently looks rather, errr, limp.

Next scene we have Brando on the Bounty after the interpreter tells him he better shag the king's daughter or there won't be any breadfruit-plants for them. He then picks up a banana and peels it quite deliberately.

Anyone else catch that, or am I just a sex-crazed pervert? ;)

I'm sure that was deliberate-the banana peeling may well have been a Brando improvisation. According to some accounts he effectively directed parts of the movie himself.

Or as Christian is returning to the island after the "order" from Bligh, he's standing "erect" on the bow of the launch!

Well, a little from column A, a little from column B. . .

Sometimes a banana is just a banana.

Well, remember that Bligh "ordered" Christian to make love Mahiti because in Tahiti, if the King's daughter wanted to have sex with you, declining was VERY rude.

I loved that scene. I always laugh when I see it.

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!
