Manchurian Candidate feelings this year? (2020)

I re-watched it recently... classic movie...

Not to get too political, but I had Manchurian Candidate vibes during the last democratic primaries... haha... It's easy to guess who I'm referring to...

Have you ever had Manchurian Candidate feelings watching a political contest? I think the idea is very compelling... I'm surprised it's not in more movies/shows...

Unlike the movie, in reality the baddies have won.

I caught this movie a few days ago. I found it to be somewhat overrated. I think the standout performance was from Angela Lansbury but it wasn't enough to save this film. I'll give it a 5.9 out of 10. Based on acting alone, this is a pretty good movie, but I just had issues with the way it was filmed. It seemed rather dated when compared to more modern films.

I would think the book is better. I haven't read it but I might check it out after watching this.

Overall, decent film but not as good as I was hoping for. I might have been expecting too much going into the movie. Great cast though but it fell a little short for me.

So much better than the one with Denzel, and I like Denzel. I think Laurence Harvey was just awful, but the plot was arresting.

And to answer the OP, yes, I've had Manchurian Candidate vibes about a candidate. In fact, one of the reasons I chose to watch this was because I wanted to see if the metaphor would hold up since so many people were calling him The Manchurian President.
