'Lisa' is Reverend Mother Dolores Hart's Favorite of All of Her Films

Yesterday, I received a note from Reverend Mother Dolores Hart in response to a letter I wrote to her regarding my being cast in a community theatre production of "The Diary of Anne Frank." I told her that I waited until the last minute to audition for the play, and the deciding factor was remembering her performance in "Lisa," aka "The Inspector," another story regarding a Nazi concentration camp survivor. As it turned out, I was cast as Mr. Kraler, one of the "righteous Gentiles" who helped the Frank and Van Pels families and Friedrich Pfeffer during their two years in hiding. I told Reverend Mother that the real life Victor Kugler reminded me of the many characters who helped her character, Lisa Held in "Lisa," reach Palestine. I was thrilled to receive Reverend Mother's note and in it she wrote, "I very much appreciated observations on 'Lisa,' the favorite of my films." She also enclosed a card from Patricia Neal's Mass of Christian Burial, which took place at the Abbey of Regina Laudis, where Reverend Mother resides. Miss Neal received much peace and contentment at the Abbey, where she wrote her autobiography, "As I Am." There is a fascinating recent interview with Reverend Mother regarding Patricia Neal, Gary Cooper and her reflections on the movie "Lisa" at the National Catholic Register website. Check it out! +God Bless you!+

HI, David! You can write to Reverend Mother Dolores Hart c/o The Abbey of Regina Laudis/273 Flanders Road/Bethlehem CT 06751. She is Prioress of the Abbey, so if you write to her, don't expect a reply within a week or even two. She's very busy with her duties as "second in command," but she will reply eventually, I can almost guarantee it! The best of luck to you and +God Bless you!+
