I thought Tina was a boy

At the beginning of the movie Tina meets her biological father (played by William Holden) in the thick brush. Before looking over the cast list I assumed she was a 10 year old boy. With her short hair she looked like one. Even her voice sounded like she could have been a boy.

I know what you mean. When I first saw the film over 51 years ago, she looked so much like my childhood friend, Billy, that she could have been him (of course, by then, Billy would have been 15, not eleven, as Pamela was when she made this film). Nevertheless, she could certainly pass for him as an eleven year old, short hair, features, the lot. Well, she was playing a tomboy.
