Question about the musical...

Okay, I've unfortunately never seen the musical before, but I love the OBCR... I had a quick question-in "Say it Somehow", is there a sex scene, or is it interrupted? How does that play out on stage? (I'm trying to see whether to recommend the play to a friend or not...)

reply

It doesn't get too dirty, Clara is in her slip and Fabriccio is in boxer-esque type shorts and an undershirt. It is interrupted, and I think they only kiss.

SPOILER: Margaret comes back from getting a drink and finds Clara in the act of taking off Fabrizio's shirt, but it doesn't go any further than that.

but we never find out what they do do once the lights go out for the intermission.... i have a feeling they did more than just kiss because in another topic (see "questions about the musical") the synopis clearly says that clara's interest in sex in growing and that her mother is doing everything she can to stop it.

Clara is in her slip and Fabrizio is wearing his pants and a button down shirt. After laying his coat over the headboard, Clara pulls him onto the bed. During their aria, Clara unbuttons his shirt and kisses his chest. Margaret walks in on them, and the stage goes dark. I doubt very seriously that it would have gone any further with Margeret there, especially because Fabrizio has more respect for Margaret than to do that. The book and movie explore this further. He's actually a bit scared of her...which doesn't come across as evidently on stage.
