Face it Godzilla fans...The Japanese themselves came clean...

and announced that King Kong was the intended winner.

They came forward and stated from the beginning that the 'dual ending' was ironically a huge error on Americas part and Kong was presented as the sympathetic monster.

All arguing is pointless...King Kong won.

Even the Japanese themselves confirm it.

yeah but what is intended and what actually happens is two different things. I personally believe that the viewer should be free to interpret a film however he or she wants. So to me, it was a tie, simple.

reply

A tie with the TKO going to Kong. That I'll agree with.

reply

Not even a tie; it was a no-decision. Anyway, who had more sequels after KK v G? Kong is barely into double-digits, and THAT's only if you include the Japanese sequels and Korean ripoffs.

- Crazy. All crazy but I'm.

Kong was the film's overall winner, but Godzilla did return in MOTHRA VS GODZILLA, so obviously both walked away from it.

It's just a shame Toho was never able to make a third Kong film. Maybe one where they team up. And yes I'm aware GODZILLA VS THE SEA MONSTER and GODZILLA VS MECHAGODZILLA II were originally meant to include King Kong.

MechaGodzilla II was intended to feature Kong? I knew Sea Monster was a Kong script reworked for Godzilla, but I had no idea about MG2.

For the anniversary Toho wanted to make "GODZILLA VS KING KONG" but I think couldn't afford what Turner Entertainment was asking. Apparently they owned the rights to Kong at the time. Toho's second plan was to bring in Mechani-Kong from KING KONG ESCAPES instead, but Turner thought the likeness was too derivative of King Kong. They settled with Mechagodzilla.

Well this is really interesting. Thanks for the info!

I have the Japanese version and it really gives off the vibe that Kong is the good guy. When Kong gets the upper hand in the fights the music becomes upbeat and heroic sounding. It is as if the audience is supposed to root for Kong.
