Joan Blackman

Joan Blackman looks so different in this film vs. Blue Hawaii. Did they have spray tan and colored contacts back then? She had a dark complexion and brown eyes in Blue Hawaii and fair skin and blue eyes in Kid Galahad.

I noticed it too. She did look a lot different. She was okay in Kid Galahad, but she was hot in Blue Hawaii. They should've made her look like she did in that. The girl who played the sister in the original Kid Galahad was much prettier than Joan was in the remake.

This thread caught my eye because I just saw part of KID GALAHAD on THSItv today, missed the credits, but wondered who the very pretty dark-haired young woman was. I thought: "She kind of remnds me of Joan Blackman from BLUE HAWAII, but not as hot." Again, still very pretty in KID GALAHAD but not as hot as she was in BLUE HAWAII.

Funny. I thought she looked very pretty with her stand-out blue eyes in Galahad, more so than in Hawaii.

I'm with you. Joan looked nice in "Blue Hawaii," but something about her look in "Kid Galahad" just bowled me over. I don't know if it was the eyes, the hair, or what but I thought she was very beautiful and very sexy!

Joan's character in Blue Hawaii had a native Hawaiian mother, and a French father (if I remember correctly), and the character's ethnicity was occasionally mentioned. That would explain the makeup choices in that movie.
