A question ( And a Complete Spoiler )

Have i got this wrong ? Or Right ? Or what ?

THE CONFLICT
1) The man was sent back in time because he had an obsessive memory.
2) But the man had an obsessive memory after and because he was sent back in time.

THE SURMISE
1) The movie was made in 1962. Lets go by these dates, and surmise that actually nothing happened in his life from 1950 to 2000.
2) In 2000, the man was a survivor of the war. Then a plan was made by the scientists. The man was sent back to 1962, and sent back right next to his younger self, and then he was shot in front of his younger self.
3) That created a haunting image in his younger self, and when he woke up again in 2000, he had a memory of a different life from 1962 to 2000, which was exploited by the scientists for their experiments ?

BUT THIS CONFLICTS AGAIN
1) If his second self is shot in 2000, his first self may have a memory, but his second self is dead in 2000, so are the scientists all going back to 1999 to work on him ?
2)The fact that he was not sent back, but he chose to go back to meet his lost love

And
This movie conflicts with the basic and more rational premise of Butterfly Effect - that is you mess with your past, you will alter so many other things, that everybody's life will change.

No you are thinking of multiple timelines due to time traveling, but this movie is a closed time loop. The kid already saw himself die the first time around. (although he didn't know it was him then)
So he sees that, grows older, gets sent back and dies there. There is no mention of him waking up again after that, he just dies.
