I heard people complain about the scene where the officer steals a kiss from Masha in the woods, which Tarkovsky play as cute, but looks as sexual harassment today. Any thoughts? By the way, do you know that the actess playing Masha, Valentina Masylavina, was many years later charged with killing her husband (she is still alive as of 2016)

There was never a moment during that scene I thought Tarkovsky was playing it as cute. In fact, I found that scene one of the more suspenseful in the film (although I don't get why it was in the film at all, other than looking pretty).

Didn't know that about the actress, very interesting!
