I'm guessing it was so they could 'age' more naturally. Besides, would you have wanted Jimmy Stewart to marry someone even younger???

shareWell Debbie Reynolds was paedomorphic so she was easily cast as a teenager in the film and Carroll Baker was a good actress. And 32 and 31 are not exactly old so it isn't too much of a stretch in the first place.

Did you even read the explanation? "Paedomorphic" means she had a body that could PASS for a child's. It doesn't mean she's a pedophile, and no sane person believes she is.

Would never have guessed that Baker was 32...wow. Thought she was early 20s.Then again, it wasn't HD. She looked more convincing young then old lol.
She looked already way way younger than Stewart.
Eve's father says she's 20 years old.
