DVD from Warner Archives 12/11/12

Just in time for Christmas, Hitler is being released on DVD by Warner Archives on December 11, 2012. Retail price $18.95. No extras.

Any movie that pins responsibility for the Second World War, the Holocaust, and the Nazis' attendant wholesale slaughter, looting and destruction in general, on Hitler's Oedipal fixation, has got to be worth a look.

My favorite scenes: the fake re-creation of the Reichstag fire, with its forced-perspective, miniature Lego building set alight by Sterno cans; and the climax [sic] in the bunker, when at the very last moment of his life, Hitler balks when his new wife Eva announces with immense satisfaction that now, she is "Mrs. Hitler," and an infuriated Fuhrer starts screaming that there will only ever be one "Mrs. Hitler", mom. I'm sure that's just what happened.
