I am a big Steve McQueen fan (can't be that big if this is the first time I've seen HIFH) anyway, I can't think of too many film titles that have a better name, Hell is for Heroes, brilliant. Does anyone have any information on this title??? is it an old saying or something??
I was wondering the same thing when I started this movie...
IMO it's a reference to the atrocities of war - i.e., we may call our returning soldiers "heroes", but if they've seen combat they're actually inhabiting a private mental hell. After finishing the movie, noting its numerous casualties and several horrific death scenes, I think that explanation makes sense.
"Hell is for Heroes" is just a more poetic way of saying, "Our heroes are actually in hell, and hell was made for them."
if you guys like hell is for heroes, you should see this episode of the show combat!. the episode is called "hills are for heroes" it is a similar story shot on the same stages at paramount. has the same composer as hell is for heroes too.
