Was the one dying soldier screaming My God or My Guts?

I couldn't tell

reply

What's the difference?
Whatever. If I can get a DVD I'll let you know.
Based on experience, however, I would tend to "Oh My God".

reply

I always thought he was saying "My God" but watching today I did hear it as "my guts." Mike Kellin didn't have much to do otherwise in the movie but he was very powerful in this scene. It was very scary. At the end another character must have mentioned his wife, and the Kellin character screams "Don't let her know it was like this!" Very strong stuff.

reply

Yes. Bloody terrifying that was.

According to the closed captioning, he was screaming, "My guts! I need to see... my guts!!" etc.

Both phrases make sense, but it sounds more like "My guts!" more than the other. And thinking that the German round went into his back and maybe out through his stomach, he'd definitely be screaming. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has questioned this in the movie.

Maybe. Maybe not.
For example, if someone clobbered you in the back with a baseball bat would you say (scream)...
(1) Oh my back!
(2) SonofaBITCH! That HURTS!
I'll leave it up to you.

I agree that was pretty strong stuff when Mike Kellin's character Kolinski died.

I've always remembered that scene.

He was saying "My Guts" He new he was going to die... he was feeling the horrow of both the excutiating pain, and the knowledge that he was going to die.

This is one of the scenes that make "HIFH" a great anti-war movie.
