It's on UK DVD as THE NAKED ISLAND

There is a wonderful British PAL DVD (Region 2) of the great Japanese film HTE ISLAND, under the original title THE NAKED ISLAND. It's a very good transfer in its original widescreen (2:35-1), and there is an audio commentary track with the director and the man who composed the glorious musical score. A great disc!

"The Naked Island" may be a good translation of the Japanese title, I wouldn't know, but it's a terrible English title for this film, given the very different connotations of "naked" in Japanese and English.
