This must be the slowest paced film ever to be produced. Even as a fan of some silent films and while I love Onibaba from the same director, I found the pacing here atrocious at best. This must also be one of the most "trolled" films in imdb history, I can't believe it's rating. It's a joke. Even if you see it as a documentary it fails.

Do yourself a favor and don't get fooled by the troll-made rating. This has aged unbelievably bad, words can't even begin to describe it. The film's only merit is its pretty good photography which unfortunately can't stand on its own at all since almost nothing happens.

I wholly disagree, this film is a revelation for modern society. It reminds us what it really means to live on this earth. It reminds us of the people who are always forgotten, and yet are the most important. The poor, hard working farmers. The most honest, most unbelievable-back-breaking-hardest-working people this planet has ever known and ever will know. It reminds us spoiled, modern kids what honest, hard work really is, and the amazing things we were/are able to accomplish without technology. It shows modernity a piece of humanity that we've lost touch with completely.

These characters lived life to the fullest. If they didn't get up every morning and bust their ass then they don't eat. Those boys played an important role to help their family. They knew what real responsibility and discipline was. I got to see beautiful characters living a beautiful life. A human life--which comes with its trials and tribulations like every other. And in the end they must keep working hard and finding those small moments of happiness, because what else is there? The most important scenes you could say are those in which the characters are smiling.

To me that is a real movie, and that is definitely not "nothing happening." The popcorn flicks meant only to entertain are in fact the films in which "nothing happens." (not saying there's anything wrong with that, though)
