He mentioned that he always pictured June as his dance partner, so he was obviously more taken by the "talented" sister. Did you see Louise's face when he mentioned that after that dance sequence?

I remember it slightly.I read somewere that it was because of tulsa rejection that help loiise become gypsy.I know her mom pushed her into the act but that was one of the reasons

The real question is how Tulsa could have not had a crush on her. Of course, this is partly about casting. Louise is supposed to be an ugly duckling who turns into a beautiful swan, but Natalie Wood was simply incapable of not looking beautiful. I'm watching that dance number and thinking, "Idiot, how can you not find her beautiful?!"
