Oozes CHARM

Although GGG has some sappy moments,there are other many instances which have a naive sweetness which would be largely lost in the latter flics for El;

Laurel Goodwin has a certain innocence which is rare in Presley's film canon though Delores Hart ranks high.Moreover,she is fun,fun and fun-loving.Combination of pixie,coquettish-ness,modesty-well,you get the picture.

Not to be overlooked is the senior couple who have fallen on hard times;Elvis comes to the rescue as much as he can.Perhaps corny today-but charming anyway.

Strauss is charming in his loyalty to Ross at the nightclub.

On the other hand,Slate"tries"to be charming(for his own intents and purposes) yet "flubs the dub"

Mr.Anti-Charm if you will....

That's a good description of Laurel Goodwin. She and Jeremy Slate, and their characters, make this movie one that I can watch more than once. The funniest scenes are between the two of them. The songs are as good as those in any of the scripted Elvis feature films. A weakness for me is that Stella Stevens had little to do in a mostly charmless and humorless role. Otherwise, I like GGG as much as any Elvis movie.

Granted Laurel is THAT fresh face which enlivens the flic and gives it a pop !

It possesses one of the finer soundtracks; who can forget 'Return to Sender' w\the Pelvis living up to his name.

...and, Stella who is a fine actress and has verve to boot really isn't given much material to work with.

All in all, I have watched this little hummer countless times and it remains fresh as to the music, the girls, the innocence, THE Islands and Elvis definitely in his prime and "rarin' to GO
