The Song

I haven't seen that movie in years. Tell me, how did that song go again; that one that they always sing?

I just finished showing this to my 8-year-old son this past weekend - this was always one of my favorite movies when I was a kid (soon-to-be 48) - of course, now HE's singing the song! ;) Once this gets stuck in your head, it's almost impossible to get out! Here you go ...

"Here am I, what a lucky guy, as the world goes floating by,
High in the air, without a care, Five Weeks in a Balloon.

I wouldn't trade my place today with the king of Mandalay,
High and low and away we go, Five Weeks in a Balloon.

With the wonders of Nature below me, and
the limitless sky up above me,
I can touch the stars and bow to Mars,
Five Weeks in a Balloon,

During the day I will ride on a sunbeam,
During the night I will rest on a moonbeam,
No counting sheep, I'm fast asleep,
Five Weeks in a Balloon.

When I'm floating high up in the sky,
There is nothing I cannot do,
I'm taller than an elephant,
And twice as powerful, too.

So come with me and you will see why I'm happy as can be,
And you'll be, too, when you've been through
Five Weeks in a Balloon ...

And you'll be, too, when you've been through
Five Weeks in a Balloon ..."

Happily, Fox Movie Channel airs this fairly often. I recall my younger sister and I going to the theater during the summer, when all of the youngsters used to have tickets sold in packets for special matinee showings throughout those three months. That was always so much fun, and we were shown many delightful movies,including this, "Flight of the Lost Balloon", "Two Little Bears", and "Sabu and the Magic Ring". What a treat that was for, as I recall, a price all families could afford=}

*** The trouble with reality is there is no background music. ***
