Blu-ray release 1/15/13; also on MOD

Experiment in Terror, out of print from Sony for some time, is now available in two formats.

Twilight Time, the "boutique" label of often less-than-boutique titles from Fox and Columbia, will release it on Blu-ray only on January 15, 2013. The few extras include the isolated music track, trailers and TV ads. This is a limited edition of 3000 and costs $29.95. Like all TT discs, it's available only from Screen Archives Entertainment (screenarchives.com), so there is no cheaper price for it somewhere else. As of this date of posting -- 12/21/12 -- it's available for pre-order at SAE.

Meanwhile, Sony has re-released the film on their MOD label, now called Columbia Classics. This DVD retails for $19.95 but is available from most sites at a lower price, so shop around. No extras, just the film.

The Blu-ray offers excellent quality, as expected. It's great to have the Henry Mancini score on an isolated audio track.

I'm waiting for one of their "buy $100 worth, get a selected DVD free" sale. TT's Columbia Blu-rays (all previously released on DVD) are generally of better films than their Fox titles. (As you know!) I'd like to find out what may be coming up in the next few months, but I've only heard about February.

By the way, TT is about to run out of their first straight DVD (as opposed to Blu), Fate is the Hunter. They're under 200 copies as of last week, in case you're interested, j. They're also below 500 of the Blu-ray of The Egyptian.
