The Pilot, is he blind too? (possible spoiler)

I always remember this film from 1970s TV as a kid. The airplane scene in particular is memorable. It's both scary and funny, after the kid asks if the pilot is blind, and everyone gets up yelling, "Blind?! Blind?!"
By the way, didn't see, nor have any interest in the remake or any other remakes.

Play the game existence 'til the end...of the beginning...

That scene kinda irritates me....everything was fine until everyone started panicking just because of the boy's question.

And then they crashed...I'm not sure if they crashed simply because the pilot was blind, or because people panicked? The movie makes it look like it was because of the passengers.

They would've crashed either way. The pilots were blind, I believe the control tower wasn't manned AND the passengers stormed the cockpit.

I didn't like the movie that much but the airplane scene was the best one! The kid asking the attendant: "Is the pilot blind like us?" and then everyone on the plane panics and goes apeshït.

As for the reason of the crash, who knows, there was a real life accident where someone smuggled a crocodile inside an airplane, during the flight the croc sets free, everyone panics and all people run towards the pilot cabin causing the plane to lose balance and crash. So maybe something like that happened, though the plane from the real accident was a lot smaller.

Only on small turboprops would the weight of passengers really affect the balance of the plane. In a big jet it wouldn't have a noticeable effect. I believe it was just they were out of fuel, since the pilot was saying, "Mayday, Mayday, please talk us down" up until the moment they crashed.
