What a total waste of good celloid!

The National Gallery are presently running a series of arthouse films under the title of "Truth Or Dare"

Yesterday (Saturday/12th/July/2008) three friends and I endured (and I mean endured) this damn awful film.

The cinema was full...Not one person left as everybody must have thought "it must get better in a minute"--Of course it would have looked uncool to leave.

I have seen a number of vintage arthouse films recently and it beggers belief how such little talent goes such a long way!!

The emporer's new clothes comes to mind with many arthouse films and yesterday's film was poor beyond belief.

Commare secca, La (1962) <<< Avoid this pile of rubbish at all costs!

I didn't like this film either but I don't agree with "Avoid this pile of rubbish at all costs!".

The whole neo realism thing seems very foolish today. Taste change from one generation to the next.

It's worth seeing.

I can't believe what I am reading right here. Obviously the OP is either a complete ignoramus a$$hole who knows nothing about cinema, or he's just a another troll.
The second poster IMO is just an uneducated "moviegoer", otherwise how can we explain such a foolish statement like The whole neo realism thing seems very foolish today.
They both, more than likely, are a couple of foolish guys between 15 and 25 years old who apparently are incapable of enjoying fine cinema.

I mean, if they think that Nights of Cabiria, Mamma Roma, La Strada, Los olvidados, The 400 Blows, Umberto D., Bicycle Thieves, Miracle in Milan, Accattone, I Vitelloni, La commare secca, L'avventura, La terra trema, and so forth, are "foolish" and "damn awful films hard to endure", then these two clowns are certified morons.

Hopefully most youngsters won't think like them. BTW if they are not young but older fellows, it would be even worse. Shame on them!

Luckyly for them "wonderful examples of great modern cinema" such as G.I. Joe, Aliens in the Attic, Transformers, Ghost Rider, Epic Movie, etc. are released each summer.

I actually couldn't agree with you more. That neo realism comment is completely asinine, I've never heard of anything so ignorant/stupid.

Glad someone out there can appreciate great films and not just the new age action crap. How good was the opening scenes with the paper blowing in the wind? Great debut.

Any particular reason you didn't like it? You didn't meantion a single problem this movie had! It's beautifully shot, and on a technical level it's basically perfect, of course you could have a problem with the plot, but the careful intrusion into various peoples lives was most interesting and the way the story connected and you got to meet all the people who was in that park was very interesting IMO. Far from Bertolucci's best, but IMO certainly a great film.
