Creepiest part for you....

What was the most creepiest part of the movie for you?

For me it was the end when Mary was chased out on to the lake bed by the Souls and to see Mary's foot print in the sand suddenly stop and that shot of her hand print.

the creepiest part for me was when mary saw herself dead dancing with the "man" on the carousel near the end. that was creeeeeepy!!

I think everything at the park was really creepy, it's so lonely and quiet. But the scariest moment is when she steps on the bus and you seen those ghosts. The thing that makes that moment so good is the extras are amatuers so theres a little something off about them. Also, off topic, the reverend was a prick.

I'm watching it right now on my local PBS station(can't sleep).

I first saw this 36 years ago when I was 10 and it scared the hell out of me.

The part where she trips and those ghouls start to come up on her.

The pirouetting couples at the carnival. Ever spinning, round and round and round... the organ music its constant refrain... forever.

The first appearance of The Man creeped me out more than anything, for sure...I had trouble looking out the window or in mirrors for a few nights after watching it for the first time, because I was kinda afraid I'd see his face leering back at me.

Yeah, The Man was creepiest for me. I especially liked when the camera pulled back and there he was, staring out the window of the old pavillion.

Definitely her neghbor Mr. Linden :-P

How 'bout the part where she walks out of the water 3 hours after the accident?

I liked the parts where she couldn't communicate with anyone and all you could hear were her shoes clicking on the sidewalk.

Saltair from a distance on the night road, when you weren't really sure what it was.

When she first emerges from the water and has the confused forlorn look of someone lost and hopeless.

When she walks out of her room and looks downstairs and they zoom up on the man's face!!!! That scared the hell out of me!

reply

The third time the man appeared it made me jump.

She just got to her room puts down her suitcase and he is staring at her from outiside of the house (or motel) and to make things scary she is on the second floor so he is like floating.

er, for me it would be her neighbor in the boarding house, followed by the vicar of the church and then by her landlady. after would come the police, and the fellow racers. the real people in this film are sketchy!!

When she thinks she is talking to the Dr. with his back turned to her at his desk, but it's really....."The Man". This is one of my favorite flicks ever.

When she leaves the changing room, and the next few minutes after that

Man I LOVE this movie! There are too many scary parts to list. I agree with all the ones you guys listed.

It's too bad they don't make authentically scary movies like this any more. People nowadays have to resort to excessive special FX and gore. When all you need is a truly frightening premise.

Another part I dont think I saw mentioned was when the sheriff and everyone was looking for her and all they could find were her footprints that stop in the middle of the sand. CREEPY!

You've all inspired me to re-watch the DVD (for about the 50th time!) :p
