Love the scenes on the train

This is where the movie really worked. Or any of the scenes with the guys all together. The writing was clever and they seemed like natural friends. Too bad that when Tony was asked about the movie years later, he said he didn't remember anything about it at all.

Yes the train scenes were great as well as the scenes in the homes with the families, 1962 style. I wonder why TR could not remember such a fine movie with great actors.

Reminds me of the train scenes in "Mad Men."

reply

Yes. It does remind me of the Mad Men train scenes.
Pretty spot on from what I recall seeing as a child on the LIRR.
Also, the balcony at the "the apartment" matches Don Drapers place with Megan almost exactly.

Have not kept up with Mad Men for the last 2 years or so, will have to catch up on Netflix. Another show with great nostalgic scenes.

The guys conversations flow in the movie. And so relaxed that I thought they might be partially adlibbed, but what they say isn't trivial. It's possible they had rehearsals and added things to the script, because they all interrupt each other and act like equals. Seems like the actors got along well, because it all seems to flow. In the last scene in the apartment, Tony starts coughing while talking and it simply becomes part of the scene and Howie just slaps him on the back. Actors usually start laughing and stop the scene.

Some great, casual lines too.

"Little League? This is big league stuff, baby. Night games."

Duff: It's okay, Howie. Sit down.
Morris: I am sitting down.
Duff: Oh.

I doubt the writer did that.
