At the time he was still alive and this might have assisted in his release.

Now that he has been dead 50 years would you mentioned the the fact the he was a pimp when he killed the first time? The incident where he beat an inmate because they squealed when he wanted to steal narcotics from the prison infirmary?
Or, that pesky question about his fantasy for killing the children of the prison guards.
Would you leave it along and show him as a bad guy who is turned good all for the love of God's little winged creatures?

I think it still would depend on the collaborative efforts of both script writer and director. Hollywood has always enjoyed looking at the world through rose - coloured glasses.
