So Stroud was 19 at the start?

It said at the end "Aged 72 he is now in his 53rd year of imprisonment"

Either I'm having a slow day, or that means he was only 19 years old at the beginning.

Stroud was supposed to be 22 at the start of the film.

Stroud was sent to prison, at McNeil Island, when he was 19. The film starts in 1912, when Stroud is 22, as he's transferred to Leavenworth due to his bad behaviour at McNeil
