Pretty horrible guy

I was researching this movie for an article and I almost had to laugh out loud at the way this film white washed his reputation. The movie is right that he was very smart and imposing. Stroud was gay and a murderer, no big secret, but he also was deemed a psychopath by doctors...which is a kind of "genius" I guess.

The guy used to rape weaker prisoners and wrote stories about kidnapping and raping kids to death. There is a good explanation he was denied parole, and it wasn't a mean warden; he was reported as saying he did not have enough time to kill everyone when he got out.

The film was a way of tricking the public to get sympathy for parole.
