Show is just not funny...

....seeing them on Antenna tv they have aged horribly. The shows are boring. I can't believe people wanted to see the reruns so bad.

I don't mind them. I'm 38 so I'm old enough to remember staying up late on Friday nights watching Johnny. I think Johnny was host during the most amazing time in our country's history. He certainly had the best guests. I quit watching the late night shows a few years ago when they started to get political... Not to mention the fact that most of the celebrity guests now are a scuzzy lot.

One thing that stands out to me in the reruns is how cheap the set looks. I realize they were filming on the old standard definition videotape, but the set really looked low budget in comparison to what they do now. It's amazing how far things have gotten. Even luxury automobiles from back then couldn't cut it now.

The shows are great to me. Incredibly funny in a clever way, not a way that is so desperate for laughs and hijinks. But I’m a fan.

What hurts this in comparison to the sitcoms is how often they discuss 'current events'. People who are old enough to remember them at the time are now in 70's and 80s. They arent necessarily staying up that time to watch. The gen xers and lower don't necessarily connect.

It's a nice attempt to mesh w the 'retro' theme...but it would be better to put in another sitcom like Family Ties, The Wonder Years, Doogie Howser MD....etc
