Gale Gordon was too mean of a straight man. Desi brought more charm to the role. I also was disappointed when Lucy kept dating the same, dull manly man type guys. I kept waiting for Desi to make a cameo appearance.

I think it woulda been cool if Fred Mertz showed up and she dated him.

So, to sum it up in legal terminology: Get lost, you bum.

I am not sure they needed Desi on camera again but his contributions off camera were never appreciated - he was a brilliant script doctor and pioneer technically with camera techniques. However, what was missing was a romantic sparring partner to keep Lucy vulnerable and softer. With just Mooney in the last 4 seasons, it became too much of him yelling and she had no one to flirt with and cleverly trick/charm.

I agree. As I mentioned before, I didn't think the men on the show were nearly as charming and funny as Desi..not even as funny as William Frawley.

Don't play games with a girl who can play better.
