Why the future is unlikely to look like The Jetsons

The 1960s classic cartoon is set in 2062, 44 years from now. Yet our future looks more like Pixar's Wall-E and less like The Jetsons, says Kamaron McNair. "It may sound far-fetched, but we’re living in a burgeoning futuristic world that could become something akin to The Jetsons relatively soon," she says. "We have so many innovations that already mimic aspects of The Jetsons’ world, from smartphones to artificial intelligence to early versions of driverless cars. But alongside these advancements have come declines to the environment and—for better or worse—notable changes to our everyday lives."

Look @ the Jetsons the workplace is white male. And listen to Rosie. She is a machine but her voice is supposed to mimic a stereotypical tone/inflection of black help.

I suspect the live action series will have George working in a much more diverse workplace. Rosie may not have accent IF she exists. They may just have a roomba!!

Jane's day of shopping was supposed to be humor about 'women's lives'. Yes my mom did not work in the 1980s (during second go around of series) but she also did not spend day shopping.

She had to take care of me and my brother because of lack of daycare facilities which knew how to handle children with disabilities.

When I entered school she had to be home in case I had a seizure and available to take me to doctor. This was pre-cell phone.

She barely had time to shop actually. Jane would have cell phone today...and bc of drastically cost of living compared to the 1960's she'd also be working.

and now in 2020 we are living in a pandemic, several things are shut down/closing down. People constantly have to take our temperatures/bundle up
