Trivia Error

The character Pfc. Littlejohn (Dick Peabody) may have been 6'6", but he did not carry the B.A.R. That weapon was normally carried by Pvt. Kirby (Jack Hogan) throughout most of the entire run of the series.

Hey CampoGiro.

You are absolutely correct. During the first few episodes, he was a rifleman who also carried additional BAR magazines for the BAR man who I think was named Grady. They then had an episode where Grady was killed at the beginning, and Kirby thought he would get be assigned the BAR. Instead, a new, raw recruit was assigned to replace Grady, and Kirby was disappointed, of course. Near the end of the episode, the new man is also killed, and Kirby became the new BAR man. From that episode on, Kirby was the regular BAR man for all five seasons.

Hey Richie,

I just noticed your post of 6 March, and I am not sure why I did not see a notice. We quit our cable use a little over a year ago, and I never heard of the Heroes and Icons channel until just recently. Since quitting the cable, we have subscribed to Netflix and have found it very satisfying - especially with not commercials.

In the past month, I copied all 152 Combat! episodes and special features from my DVD set to MP4 files on my computer. Now I am able to pick any episode to see without putting a DVD into the player. I can watch episodes on my computer or connect my computer to the TV and see it on a big screen.

Best wishes,
