Finally cracked the plastic wrap on the complete collection boxset.

I've seen a few over the years here and there but decided it was time to open up that gift I'd gotten and plough into stories that relied on story and thought of aesthetics as a thing to lay visuals, audio and set design upon.

Only a few in but I can say wholeheartedly it's worth getting my fellow Emsees (Coined that here BTW).

Hope to bring this board into a whole new lease of life as I go through all seven seasons.

SO is this a restored set of Blu Rays or DVDs?

reply

Seasons 1-7, on DVD from the UK.

Quality looks tip top so far.

I hope this helps Bishop 😉

Congrats on opening them up and diving in. I look forward to your thoughts. I have many favorites. I'd like to know which episodes you like.
I tried listing them, but I messed up and there are so many!

I'm only three in of the first season so far Margo but I'm very impressed. I think the trick to talking about them is to not spoil them for those who haven't seen them yet.

The first episode "Revenge" was very good and quite risque for 1955 by all accounts.

The second "Premonition" was a nice thriller/mystery which I won't go on about.

The third "Triggers in Leash" was a real tense and humorous look at two cantankerous fools and a lady they both respect trying to have them e reasonable.

The commentaries from Hitchcock are spot on, he was certain the top YouTuber of his day.

Thrilled by the entire thing and have hundreds more episodes to look forward to!

Wait... i think you're talking about 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents', which is the earlier series. That's what I just started watching as well.

I think 'The Alfred Hitcock Hour' is the later series.

reply

Looks like we may not be able to compare notes. We are on the Alfred Hitchcock Hour board.
that's the set I own.
You are talking about Alfred Hitchcock PRESENTS. A different series of half hour episodes.
Still great, but this is the wrong board. I can only remember a handful of episodes from that series.

reply

You are right Margo, you'll have to wait out until I get around to the full one hour episodes.

My apologies.

reply

No apologies necessary.
The half hour episodes are really good too. I was just refreshing my memory earlier by looking through some of those seasons on the IMDb site. I had forgotten about some of those. Now I want them!
Anyway, enjoy!!!!

Hey, Juror! did you ever get around to the hour long ones?
I just watched the one with Tony Randall. It is called Hangover.... a very sobering episode.
It's much like the one with Phyllis Thaxter in Alfred Hitchcock Presents... I'll have to look that up. Oh! It was called Never Again! Both were quite good. It makes you look at the ugliness of alcoholism.

reply

Very nice. I think I'll pick this up at some point.
