Out of sight

I noticed that they used the phrase Out of Sight a lot in this movie. I'm wondering if anyone remembers if this might have been the origin of the popular catch phrase, or was it a result of this phrase being used a lot. Sort of a cart or horse thing, was it already a popular phrase when this movie was made?
I'm just old enough to remember everyone saying Out of Sight but not to remember when it started.
