Premonition

Watch the original Outer Limits episode "Premonition" to see unaltered X-15 footage.

Yeah, that is a good one. The pilot (inside the X-15 when it is flying) even looks a lot like Neil Armstrong in his X-15 days, and though I know it could not be him, it does make one wonder if it is actually him.

Since both The Outer Limits and X-15 were made by United Artists, it seems that Daystar Productions got a hold of the footage needed to make the episode.

It is my understanding that North American also loaned them the ship for the staged post crash sequence.

After watching that episode I wondered how they were able to mock up an X-15 when The Outer Limits was often produced on a very srict budget. A little digging around and I came to find out that NAA was only too glad to lend out the vehicle or perhaps their own mock-up.

Maybe that installment should have been titled "Promotion"

"Please use elevator, stairs stuck between floors."

Why couldn't it be Armstrong?

He flew the North American X-15 seven times between November 1960 and July 1962 . . . plenty of time for any film of his flying the plane to make it into Hollywood stock footage archives for The Outer Limits' Premonition (Jan 1965) episode.
