I agree. "Viridiana" is a masterpiece and it's one of my favorite movies. I have it in my top 10 of all-time.

A month ago or so Viridiana made the Top250 but just for a couple of days. The problem is simple: It doesn't have enough votes to stay there although it has a high rating.

Anyway the Top 250 is just a popularity contest and nothing more. Be happy knowing that Viridiana won La Palme d'Or at Cannes. Besides it's considered by most critics and filmmakers as one of the best movies of all time.

just to add to your point, the great British film critic Derek Malcolm rates this film in his Top 100 movies of all time. By the way, a suggestion for those who want to see this movie: watch it in the historical context of the time (the dictatorship of Franco, the hold of the church, etc)

Lots of movies "deserve to be in the top 250." *beep*, at least 500 films deserve to be in the top 250. Too many great movies.

This is just my opinion, but to me the top 250 list is a joke. Foreign films and films older than 25 years get a much shorter end of the stick than flashy new projects. And if a films is older than 25 years AND foreign, well then just forget it, its probably not appearing anywhere on there.

And I know there are notable exceptions, but in general, this is what I've seen.

I couldn't disagree with you more. This movie lacks any insight into what drives people's behavior - it only offers a superficial and general observation. To me it's not enough. I expect much more from a TOP250 movie.
