I think Johnny Depp looks very much like Dirk Bogarde. Also, David Bowie, in a way - I wonder if he was styling himself after Dirk Bogarde. I really loved Dirk Bogarde in this film. He was a fantastic actor who brought something unique to each piece of work.

I just watched Dirk Bogarde in Cast a Dark Shadow the other day. He was such an incredible actor! Not the greatest film, but Dirk is always fabulous.

Not sure about Dirk B. looking like J.Depp or David Bowie but his acting in this film is top notch. A couple of scenes stay with me - one is where Eddie calls at Farr's chambers and shows him the photograph. The other is the moment when he's told that Boy is dead.
Read Roger Ebert's review of this film (click on "external reviews" to find it). He tells too much about the movie (I think he recounts the entire plot!), but does a fantastic job on Bogarde.
