Two Rode Together
Why is this movie NOT on DVD? It is a great movie and was one of John Ford's
favorites. Any information on DVD would be greatly appreciated. Someone missed
something somewhere.

Ford didn't like this film, and in the trivia section it says he only made Two Rode Together for money.
It has some good moments, but I've never placed Two Rode Together among John Ford's finest. Stewart and Widmark do have good chemistry, and I loved the actress who played Belle. The film is Searchers-esque, but doesn't go as far as that masterpiece. Even Stewart wanted his character's dark side to be explored more.
There are worse movies out there, and Two Rode Together is worth a look. I just can't say it's among Ford's very best though.

From what I've heard, Ford lost interest in Two Rode Together after hearing, during filming, about the death of Ward Bond- his favorite actor to work with, or, as Ford put it, his "favorite $hit". He closed down filming for that day, remarking to Andy Devine, "Well, now YOU'RE my favorite $hit." After filming started up again Ford just didn't care about the movie anymore.
