Blooper in Town Without Pity

Watch the very end as Kirk Douglas is walking down the hotel corridor towards the open door. Thru the door you will plainly see the rear quarter panel of a 1957 Chevy Convertible with wide white wall tires. Soon as the camera switches to an outdoor shot, you will see Kirk getting into that car which has changed into a 1956 Chevy Convertible with blackwall tires.
Great movie.

Just watched it on TCM and noticed the same goof. I was wondering if anyone else caught it.

I'm a car freak. Saw it the first time I ever watched the movie. The giveaway is the distinctive wide slash of chrome on the rear quarter panel of a very dark '57 Chev Bel Air. And the '56 Chevy he climbs into outside the hotel is much lighter in colour. The change should leap right out at anybody who knows mid to late '50s GM cars.

I bet a lot of people would have noticed it at the time of the film's first release.

You guys can't see the forrest for the trees! I saw the Chevy switch. Did YOU see that awful matte painting BEHIND the '57? Must have needed this shot long after filming was over.

reply

Funny, I didn't notice the car but I did notice that it was obvious the interior shot as he was walking out was a set, then it cut to back on location when he came out of the hotel.

reply

Yes, I noted it and reported it to IMDB as an anachronism. Why did none of you do that? Sheesh... so obvious.
But, GREAT movie!!!
