One historical accuracy - SPOILER

At the funeral at the fort for the four troopers killed by Apaches, a US Flag drapes each coffin. I counted the stars on one flag and found 37.

The lieutenant newly assigned to the regiment says his orders were drafted in New Orleans and dated 19 May 1870. According to the Smithsonian Institution website, the official US Flag in 1870 did contain 37 stars.

Attention to detail in movie-making never hurts.
