Wallpaper whispers

I recently watched The Haunting (1963) by Robert Wise and noticed that the scene where Julie Harris' character hears whispers behind the wall is *very* similar to Harriet Andersson's experience in this film. The two films are of course very different (The Haunting bordering on to farce in my opinion), but do you think Wise copied Bergman?
