question/comment about scenery and mood.

I watched this just today for the first time. Very good. I was trying to digest the movie while in bed, so I am going to be as quick as possible, forgive me if there is already a thread dealing with this.

Anyway, I was thinking about how Bergman used the scenery of the wide open lake and shore, with mountains in the background-and then it only being one location. We only see the water, the shore, the wrecked ship and the property the house is on. Despite the large wide-open water, there is a claustrophobic feeling because of the fact there is only one location (and only four characters in the film). This feeling, I feel like, has to someway parallel with the mood of the characters in dealing with Karin's illness(at least to her). It seems as though she thinks that all the other characters feel trapped in that they have to deal with her illness, and it is only going to get them stuck in the misery (based on the conversation she has with Martin about if he would like to have a more traditional wife). So I guess what I'm asking is: A)Do my ramblings make sense? B)Should this claustrophobic feeling of the location parallel a feeling the rest of them have in dealing with Karin?

Maybe this is very obvious, and did not need to be said, or maybe its my late night brain reaching for something that is not there. Either way, I could not have slept if I hadn't typed this out.
