I think I've seen this, can someone confirm this scene ?

I have been looking for a Japanese film made about nuclear war that showed a boat of sailors and men looking out to the horizon and seeing a nuclear blast going off. If I remember, they were the last ship out of port and saw the destruction of their city from out at sea. If this is the same movie, at least I know what I saw. If this is from another movie, please let me know the title.

Still there, after two and a half years? Anyway, yes -- this is almost certainly the film you're thinking of. The scene you describe occurs near the end. Afterward, the ship's captain and crew decide to put about and return to Tokyo, even though the city's been entirely destroyed by nuclear missiles AND a volcanic eruption, and knowing that they will also encounter lethal levels of radiation even before reaching port (or what's left of it).
