Great Movie...we need the DVD!

I loved Sandra Dee & John Gavin in "Romanoff & Juliet"...& would buy that movie on DVD. Peter Ustinov was also wonderful in it as The General of Concordia. It was a lovely spoof on Romeo & Juliet, only with a happy ending! Haven't seen it since I was young but loved it & would buy it in DVD format in a heart beat!

Who would make a decision about creating a DVD of Romanov and Juliet? The studio? Ustinov's estate?

I agree completely; this film was a precious gem of Cold War silliness: a bit more cerebral than "THE MOUSE THAT ROARED", but Peter Ustinov wasn't trying to be Peter Sellers. There was a special air of elegant innocence that marked Ustinov's films (and his acting), that was neatly matched by Sandra Dee, John Gavin and the rest of this odd cast, with an understated humor that lasts. It is a rare, one of a kind treat that deserves to be back out again.
The studio and Ustinov's estate might both have a say in things, but somewhere in my files is a non-commercial VHS copy of it that I can't find off hand... Still, I've been wanting a taste of Vintage Video Champagne of late, maybe I'll go digging in my "wine cellar" again very soon...

I also loved the film and would like see it again and also obtain a copy of the movie on DVD or VHS. Peter Ustinov's other films are often shown on TV but this one never has been, yet it is one of his best.

I totally agree. Hopefully it will eventually come out on DVD.

Both www.lovingtheclassics.com and www.classicmoviereel.com sell DVD copies and they ship worldwide.

I have found a decent price difference,
on www.classicmoviereel.com it's only $12.95 but the photo of the cover is faded and there is nothing special about it. I could not find any info on if it is a normally manufactured disk or a print-on-demand.

However, on www.lovingtheclassics.com and one of my favorite sites www.ccvideo.com it's $19.95 but the photo of the cover is much better and shows it as part of "Universal Vault Series"... I would tend to trust these two sites more. Of course I have ordered from CCVideo many times; they are not the cheepest but I get good service and good product.

My 2-cents...
Enjoy this dusty jewel whenever you get a chance.

The official DVD has been issued from Universal Vault. It's available from Amazon, among others I guess. It's a made on demand dvd and not a pressed disc. From the description it is not widescreen ,but the standard 1:33 cropped version.
