A Very Good Film Except For.....

Warren Beatty. Vivien Leigh did her usual fantastic job of carrying the movie (would anyone expect less?) Beatty? One can only ask WHY? Granted, he had just been well-received in Splendor in the Grass, and was tolerable there, but he could not have been more poorly cast for this role.

GWTW was Leigh's finest performance. My favorite was Waterloo Bridge. TRSoMS, however, is probably the one in which she was asked to do the most on her own. Beatty was an anchor that she carried for nearly 2 hours.

I think it's well worth seeing !!! I think it's kind of tragic because it involves a relationship between an older woman and a younger man. I think some of the acting is corny (not Vivien Leigh), but the beautiful Jill St. John looks foolish in this. Of course Warren Beatty is handsome, but they should have found an Italian for the role. The guy following her around in this movie really creeps me out, but I don't want to say any more. I think you will find it interesting !

I just watched this and I have to wonder why or why does Vivian have that awful greyish hair? She was about 48 in this film and is still very beautiful.

Possibly to emphasize her age. On the other hand, it's often considered harsh and aging to have DARK hair on an "older woman." Ultimately, I suppose it was the director's choice to go with that beigish hair in the first part, and the light brownish hair she has later.
