Hah! Just watching it again today - and I heard that offscreen banter between Lotte Lenya and Jill St. John about the term "chicken-hawk."

HAH! Totally a gay phrase that's been around since men were first pursuing younger men.

Of course, Tennessee Williams put it in there, no doubt, as a wink to his gay audience members. No doubt str8 audiences are clueless in the meantime.

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

cruise is an apt last name for you. Audiences are not naive to anything, unless you find it self-fulfilling to think they are. Maybe you're naive to your own homosexual desire to find gay messages only because Williams wrote it. (or even if he didn't) Of course, you want to be 'winked at' to feel a sense of importance regarding your sexuality, no doubt.
