AGE QUESTION?

after they are caught the police make a big deal out of the fact the girl was only 17 and a minor, YET in the end of the film JANSSEN kisses her.(she was to old to be playing 17 anyways) JANSSEN sure wasn't concerned about his job anymore.

I found that odd too.

She's a real carpenter's dream "Flat as a board and needs a screw"

They obviously were in love with each other by the end of the movie. Sex with a minor is a crime. Kissing someone isn't. If JANSSEN didn't care about his job anymore it only shows he cared more about BOBBIE than he did his career.

Somehow I don't think JANSSEN was going to lose his job anyway considering all he had just done to save the townsfolk from the fire (and remember the girl helped him). He was a hero and within a year he and the girl would be married.

I agree but could have done a better job resolving this issue.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm glad you agree with me (I think)

Agreed on all your points. And it was made clear (at least to me) that they hadn't done anything more than kissing. The ending does seem kind of rushed, though.

After this publicity photo got around I don't think any of the audience questioned who was telling the truth.

It takes a lot of discipline to be able to pose for a photo like that without laughing.

The reality is that Bobbie is devoted to Steve ( that is why she stayed with him on the train even though she was in greater danger). Because Frank ( who made the charges) is dead, and Steve saved hundreds of people the Statutory Rape charge will disappear. At the end he says to Bobbie "You are special and if all of them ( the town) can start over so can you." Steve will end marrying her.
