A brilliant film!

I totally adore this film - it's soooooooooooooo funny! Tony Hancock is super in the lead role! He plays the part perfectly! I also find there is a kind of sympathy one feels towards Hancock, which I find very sexy!! And I love his big blue eyes!!

How do you mix your paints?
With a big bucket and a stick!

That is women as I see them!
Oh you poor man!

Aphrodite at the water hole - coming up for the third time!

That is Ducks in Flight!

Yes, indeed - a tremendous film.

My own favourite line comes towards the end, where Hancock has returned from Paris to Mrs Crevatte's to get Paul's works.

"Do you want a bit of cake?"

It's not necessarily the line itself, but how Irene Handl delivers it, complete with a seductive flick of her tongue. Marvellous.

Winds light to variable.

Yes, that's a great bit! I think Irene Handl plays the part very well indeed!
I love the whole scene at the beginning with Hancock and Irene.

"Miscalanious rubbish" Irene Handl was wonderful.

Apsolootly marrveloos! Loved every minute. Quotes ? It's full of them.

Life long Hancock fan ...BBC radio 4 extra plays the radio series ' on a loop' one episode per wednesday 8 am 12 noon and 7 pm I think ....

I didn't think the film showed 'the lad himself' to his best. But as a huge fan it was still very interesting. If only they could have done a film capturing his essence, but of course 'something has to happen' in a movie.
To be honest, I always preffered him on radio rather than tv. The pure magic of conjuring up one's own pictures.
Rest in peace Tony, you were a true genius.

reply

Have you seen the other one? The Punch and Judy Man ...A horse of a different colour. Much Pathos ( very Pungent..as Irene Handel might have said.

reply

Yes, but I find it a bit painful. The beginning of the decline.

reply

Irene Handl is brilliant in the film - had me in stitches at the end!

You`re my wife now.
