I Know.........(SPOILER ALERT!)

I am formerly known as HillieBoliday.....Member since May 2006.

.......Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman's characters got busy doing the love thing; are you telling me that Diahnn Carrol & Sidney Poitier's characters didn't?

Now.....I'm not promoting promiscuity, and maybe because Joanne has two children....and Diahnn is fresh out of college about to start teaching school...may be that explains it. But, now on the other hand...it was such a powerful setting and atmosphere for making love....what happened with Sidney & Diahnn? Why didn't they protray some sort of physical attraction between them?
I think they only kissed when she was leaving...or did I miss something more?

The old Hollywood was always hard-pressed to show romantic love between black males and females. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Of course, Poitier and Ruby Dee are somewhat loving in A RAISIN IN THE SUN, also released in 1961, but I can't conjure up much "kissy/huggy" before NOTHING BUT A MAN (1964).
May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?

They were probably hard-pressed because that love thang between black males and black females is very powerful! I know..because I am a Black Female; and although it has not been that often....I have been head over heels in love with at least two of them (not at the same time) in my life....and it was WONDERFUL!!
