One Eyed Jacks...Extended Edition????

Does anyone know if there is an extended version or director's cut of One Eyed Jacks (DVD or VHS). My aunt - Irene Calvillo - had a small part in the film that was cut out (after the studio chopped up Brando's long version), along with her credit. If ANYONE has any leads on this...PLEASE give a shout!!!!!!

I haven't heard about any extended version of "Jacks" but I sure would like to see the Brando version, all 4 or 6 hours of it. We should all contact Paramount studios and ask for the extended version of that great movie. I don't think they believe it would be a big seller and woudn't be worth their time and money.

Even though Paramount released this movie, I don't believe they own it. I think Marlon Brando does, and he's dead. Even though he directed and acted in it, I seriously doubt that he would have participated in the movie being rereleased. He never contributed to the rerelease of any of his films. Even though he believed that his original cut of the film was much better than the version released, after a while he just gave up caring. Besides, from what I've read, the extra footage no longer exists; it was destroyed soon after the movie was released. So, everbody who would like to see an extended version of this had better give up because it will NEVER happen.

I doubt we will ever see it unfortunately. It's too bad because this is one of Brando's most underrated films. It's a very effective western.

The biggest problem, I think, is that there are pretty big copyright issues at work here. It's obvious, because there must be about 50 different DVD releases of this film here in the states, and they are all garbage. One of them even has a cover, that depicts Brando's character in The Missouri Breaks! It's ridiculous.

Paramount really needs to work on this, because a lot of Brando's films are misunderstood genius (Quemada being a big example). Also, it's hard for me to believe that Paramount still has footage of this film stored somewhere, given what their relationship to Brando devolved into. But we can always hope and pray.

One Eyed Jacks is now in the Public Domain and distribution belongs to no one, including Paramount.

I am willing to guess that Paramount still has the original Brando cut buried in a vault somewhere. Peckinpah's cut of The Wild Bunch was hidden under lock & key for a great while. Leone's cut of Once Upon A Time In America was mythical for years and denied by the studio as existing. Eventually, the Director's visions were finally displayed in their proper light and proven far superior to the studio cuts.

I already consider One Eyed Jacks to be in my top three Westerns and would love to see Brando's vision brought to light.

I agree fruga. It would be great to see Brando's original version. When Brando escapes from prison it is so abrupt and one wonders if there were some prison scenes deleted from the original that would have showed how they made the prison escape. I don't know if we will ever have the one Brando wanted to show but maybe someone like TCM can get stills for it and show it like they did for Greed.
