Underrated Classic

Over the years this movie has got many negative reviews as being bloated, boring, too talky etc, etc, but lately many movie buffs have considered it one of Brando's best, a pity he only directed one movie as he definitely would have found that he would have been a quality director, but, alas as everyone knows he got tired of Hollywood and its a pity he spent the remainder of the 60,s making poor movies.ersion

Its time now I think that Paramount, or whoever has the rights to the negative to release a restored version on DVD / Blue Ray to bring this long lost classic to a new audience. Apart from Brando, the acting was superb in the supporting category with both Karl Malden and Ben Johnson, and not to mention Katy Jurado, all outstanding

We got this one from the 99cent store for 25c. It was a bit long but quite good. It builds up to a nice climax toward the end. I like the part where he reels in that gun and this line earlier "Maybe he went back to get his shoes" lol

I agree. Several actors gave their best, or near best, on screen performances in this classic. Ben Johnson, Karl Malden, Brando himself, Slim Pickens, all were great. Ben Johnson was great as a snake in the grass - this part equaled or exceeded his part in Shane. I could go on and on - great movie, enough said.

I have bought this on DVD for $1 at the dollar store and I have it for sale as part of a collection of westerns, 9 hours. And just saw it for the first time and really enjoyed it. Forgot that Brando directed it.
