Cowboys on the Coast

Finished the movie (again!!) last night. Crappy version from Mill Creek, a 50 Movie Cowboy box. I swear this film looks black and white in places, and washed out to boot! Terrible. And it says "Technicolor" at the beginning. Mill Creek outa feel ashamed! GREAT MOVIE THO ...The Coast. Nobody's ever done a Western on the beach;?I love it!! The Cowboys and the surf. ... So original. Why hasn't Clint Eastwood ever filmed on the beach?!? And he lives in Carmel! Go out the door,? hit the set!! You can't knock down Marlon Brando AND Karl Malden. Giants. We're they together in "Streetcar Named Desire??" Thought so. Excellent Western!! When Marlon says, "You're the One Eyed Jack in this town." You know he's gunning for dad. ... Mothing Better...what a Cast!! ...John

I just saw the restored version in a cinema, it looks amazing, like it was shot yesterday.

Were you there to watch the earth be scorched?
Did you stand beside the spectral torch?

I got bluRay (ONLY place) France?!? Can't remember where?? Quality better BUT could still be improved. Did they run it thru a computer !? Can't they get original theatrical release and print from that?? Think copywriter has expired probably no $$ in creating better version. Too bad. Love the movie! Cast (Katy Jurado HOT! What a woman! What an actress - High Noon, what charisma, what soul!! Big Fan.) location, story..Stanley Kubrick started directing..Marlon Brando finshed. Only film Marlon Brando ever directed. Love the guy! A Giant. My Hero! Cared about Indians, America. Marlon you're #1 Baby!!! John

IIRC, the old bluray was a shameless upscale. The film is/was public domain and has never had a proper home video release since VHS days (until now that is).

Beaches have appeared in various Westerns. Cannot think of any examples off hand where they are focused on them, though.
Maybe The Castaway Cowboy with James Garner.

Sorry, but what movie is that?!? Ha Ha There aren't any...I'll stand by that statement..Seen em all. John - Merry Christmas

Oh, just the following----
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071288/
Considering the amount of info I provided (title and lead actor) you could've done the research yourself.

Ha Ha There aren't any

Yes, yes there are. The aforementioned Garner Western being one of them.
As far as beaches APPEARING in Westerns there are quite a few.
They mostly happen to be Spaghetti Westerns or Euro westerns in general. A few are the following---
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066844/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061313/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_94 (it opens with a beach scene)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059924/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

That's just to name a few^
If I thought harder on the subject i could come up with more. But I think that proves the point.

I'll stand by that statement

You could continue to do so but you'd look mighty silly, considering you're embarrassingly wrong.

Seen em all.

I just proved otherwise.

Sorry. Haven't seen any cowboy movies in Rome! Ha Ha I'll stand by it - No beaches in westerns. Period One Eyed Jacks is it. ..... I don't mean lakes and rivers. Oceans

reply

Jeez.
Castaway Cowboy starring JAMES FVCKIN' GARNER is an American production.

I don't mean lakes and rivers.

And neither did I.

Haven't seen any cowboy movies in Rome!

Funny, since most of that specific genre is shot in the desert of Almeria, Spain. That territory looks quite a bit like our badlands of South Dakota. BTW, I thought you had seen them all?

No beaches in westerns

Wrong.

One Eyed Jacks is it

Wrong.

I'll stand by it

Embarrassing.
